in industrial waste heat recovery, from site survey to commissioned plant
Founder → exit
first-hand experience of starting, scaling and successfully selling a company
300+ installations
of industrial heat pipe technology across multiple industries worldwide
SERVICES
Two disciplines, one practical point of view.
Whether the question is about a furnace flue or a funding round, the answer starts the same way: understand the real situation, then find the option that pays back.
01.
Industrial Energy Consulting
Independent advice on how your site uses energy and where the savings really are, from process heat and steam systems to decarbonisation roadmaps and capital project reviews.
02.
Waste Heat Recovery Assessments
A structured look at the heat leaving your process (exhausts, flues, cooling circuits) and what it could be doing instead. You get recoverable heat, candidate thermal transfer technologies, indicative costs and payback, clearly set out.
03.
Business Advisory
Strategic support for established businesses: growth planning, commercial strategy, organisation and preparing the company for investment or exit, from someone who has sat on the other side of the table.
04.
SME & Startup Advisory
Hands-on guidance for founders at the start of the journey: company set-up, business planning, first customers, funding and building the foundations that make later growth possible.
Advice from someone who has done it.

Professor Mark Boocock
In 2007 I founded Econotherm, a Welsh designer and manufacturer of heat pipe heat exchangers, and led it as Managing Director for more than eighteen years. Our units recover waste heat from furnace, boiler, oven and incinerator exhausts and turn it into useful hot air, hot water or thermal oil, for process use, space heating or even power generation, cutting fuel costs and CO2 emissions for clients worldwide.
Building Econotherm meant living the full life of a company: founding it, winning its first customers, growing it strategically and, as Chairman, seeing it through to a successful exit. Before that I spent the late 1990s and early 2000s in commercial and delivery leadership roles at Xansa and Tekwin. Qmax Consulting brings that technical and commercial experience together for your business.

Map the heat
Identify each heat source and potential heat sink: temperatures, flows and availability.
03
Weigh the options
Match suitable thermal transfer technologies to each opportunity with indicative cost, savings and payback.
04
Clear recommendation
A concise report with prioritised next steps, and support through to delivery if you want it.
Typical sectors: Oil & gas refining · Steel & metals · Aluminium · Ceramics & glass · Food & drink · Chemicals · Mining & minerals
